It isn't much but from your image I've managed to model this basemesh mockup. What do you think?

Re: Monster Designs.
Cool, how long did this take you and how many polygons? Also, anyone know what the polygon limit should be?StrykerX49 wrote:It isn't much but from your image I've managed to model this basemesh mockup. What do you think?

Re: Monster Designs.
the polygons for normal monsters should be limited to the hundreds or low thousands i think
Re: Monster Designs.
Took me a little less than an hour. I kept it low poly so I didn't use the subsurf mods. The original design had gashes in the torso but I didn't get around to using the booleans.

Re: Monster Designs.
Here's what I've done so far. I'll do a more detailed drawing of whatever people like, but I want to get my ideas onto here.
evil baby seal hiding under a leaf, tentacled trollface gorilla, venomous dogbat (NOT BANANA) dismembered bunny slime, and a creepy frog based on the stamp on my math paper. There are skulls reflected in its eyes.
warthog man, bird spirit, spiderlegged snake (I really like this one) and crabrock, stealthily disguised as rock and then attacking.
original doodlies. Generic muscular dude fighting a spiderlegged snake, a creature disguised as a pile of rocks with bloody claws, a scorpabull, a carnivorous mossy rock, and two characters.

Re: Monster Designs.
I like the snake thing and the pig the most. If you could make them look a little more intimidating that would be awesome
Re: Monster Designs.
What happened to the first two images? Photobucket says they've been deleted/moved.

I'll get around to better versions of those, thanks for input.
I edited, can you see them now?

Re: Monster Designs.
It works if I go directly to photobucket, but not in the forum which is probably my browser's fault. It's difficult to see the pencil drawings, so try to lower the brightness in an image manager/photoshop. I see the most potential in the snake/eel w/ centipede legs on the back, winged monster, and two headed one. Maybe try developing those further in detail/variation/different poses/color/texture/material and set up scale, how tall it is. Sketch an average person next to it so we can get an idea of their heights. Create some sort of bio too like how it attacks, sounds, and moves.

Re: Monster Designs.
I like the crabrock the best. Can you post a sketch of how its face looks when it stops pretending to be a rock?

Re: Monster Designs.
Rebecca, i drew this, umm, spider snake thing based on yours. maybe it's more intimidating now? :3 it's at the bottom right corner.. just ignore the other stuff. i thought that the spider legs should look more like.. scythes, instead of actual legs.

Josh, I like ur lizard thingy. I think it should move in packs, in conjunction with the Dreads. As like maybe an acid-spitter (ranged) ?

Re: Monster Designs.
I really had no face planned for the crabrock, just a dark craggy crack across the face, opened very slightly like there's a single eye in there. If you can come up with something better, yay!
The creepiness of the snake was intended to come from the creepiness of spider legs combined with the gulper eel/ dragon mouth. Ideally you should see it scuttle-slither out from behind a rock and swallow a smaller thing whole. larger scythe-legs is great, mine are indeed small. And I like how they extend from the edges of the cobra hood like ribs.
I'm not so good at drawing creepy.

Expanded summary of my ideas on the spidersnake since a few of you seem to like it. Hope you can read my writing.

Re: Monster Designs.
Good job, maybe indicate some sort of texture like slimy amphibian skin, alligator skin, fish scales, or bearded dragon. What exactly the smooth skin is isn't apparent in this sketch. The 3d modellers wouldn't necessarily have to model scales and stuff, that would be the texture artist's job.
