i think we should allow the player to design their own player
like hair color, hair style, face, and/or clothes
and also make their own names?

I think custom clothes and name could be possible, but it would be very hard to program the other features in my opinion

Which reminds me. Is the game going to have text dialogue or spoken? Also Kevin D. mentioned there should be a team for sound effects.

Either way could work. If there is a customizable name, then it would have to be text based. I'm kind of thinking it might be better to not have a customizable name though in order to get people familiar with the main character in the future. A team for sound effects might be good later on when we start working on gameplay.

i think the composer team can take care of the sound effects
but maybe not the speaking part

oh sorry bout that
i first imagined the protagonist to have like a rugged look
maybe dark clothes with slight camo to hide in woods and such
maybe a cloak w/ hood
and...a satchel! >

I think since we're going for the caught up in a quarantined zone/ being at the wrong place at the wrong time that we should go for an average and relatable person. Now are we only focusing on a single character because some ppl in story were thinking of small groups of travelling characters kind of like Final Fantasy. I personally though of 1 character escaping the danger zone and one going in to find him/her. Which brings me to the topic of gender. Should it be selectable by the player? Or should there be 1 female and 1 male character in my fighting to meet at the quarantine border type deal? Or should there be small groups of mixed gender character groups trying to escape? Keep in mind the complications that follow any choices we make.

i think that if we let the player design their character, the gender should also be included, but if not then there should be a set gender

I think one of the main things that we need in the main character is to be able to get the player to look at the main character and be able to see part of themselves in it. You know, for a more personal, immersive experience - and if the player can sort of "bond" to the character, then the player will be more emotionally moved if something bad happens to the character, ya know what I mean?

Yeah. Exactly why I suggest that instead of a badass fighter type character we go for the average person. Identify our demographic here. Should our character be a 14-17 or 18-20? We could probably have the badass character type be a supporter somewhere during the game? But as Mel Gibson over here says, we need to draw in the audience.
Edit: Also a set gender could work as long as another playable character is of the opposite gender. IDK it's just that the concept artists are doing such a good job on people that limiting them to one set character gender that's significant (that means other than extras) is a waste.

We could probably have the badass be a total jerk and then later be a sort of pal for you later on, and then we as the evil dev team we are can kill him off and move players emotionally. Unless that's cliche, but still it could probably work provided the right type of script.StrykerX49 wrote:Yeah.
